This study applies expressive theory is the artist's product and criteria by which it is to be judged.rnrnThe analysis is focused on loving and fighting in facing hardship and hostility. Ernest Hemingway describes his love for sea fishing and the mentalities of those who fell at home on the ocean. The Old Man and the Sea describes Hemingway's attitudes to reflect man lonely exhausting struggle for a belief in same achievements as a value, which after being obtain, will be torn to shards b hostile world but keep its significance for him who fought for it. He present the old man must keep alive in the large of the sea which picture of fighting like difficulties, danger, loneliness, and no end.rnrnThis study finds out that The Old Man and the Sea is a literary work which is used by Ernest Hemingway to express his belief that life is hard and the world is hostile. Human beings are weak creatures and the world can be so harmful, cruel, dangerous, treacherous but human beings will be victories as Ernest Hemingway believes and says that man can be destroyed but can not defeated.""
